m.Net to supply Telstra Caller Tones services
Friday, 05 May 2006

Mobile solutions industry leader m.Net Corporation today cemented its position as a primary innovator and technology integrator in the Australian mobile solutions marketplace when it was named as the exclusive managed service provider for Telstra’s new Caller Tones ringback tones service.

Ringback tones is the mobile personalisation phenomenon that has generated enormous consumer interest and revenue in Asia and other markets in Europe and the US. Telstra customers using the service can personalize the ringing tone usually heard by people who call them with music, personal messages, humour or other audio clips. The tone the caller hears can be customised by time of day or for the person calling. When the service is launched later this year, m.Net’s role will be as prime contractor for solution architecture and systems integration. m.Net will integrate selected technology from global mobile services leader WiderThan (NASDAQ: WTHN) into Telstra’s billing, activation and service configuration systems. Under the terms of the agreement, m.Net will deliver the Caller Tones managed service provider role for an initial three-year period, coordinating all aspects of the portal including content management relationships with content providers. Content and services will need to be accessed by any Telstra GSM user via SMS, IVR, web or WAP portals. m.Net CEO Horden Wiltshire said, “Telstra’s selection of m.Net as its exclusive technology provider is a great accolade for the company as we continue to build a great Australian team in this still-emerging field of mobile content and services. “We were able to offer Telstra a unique mobile research service that I think set us apart from competitors.”
